Omnicane Southern Tropical MTB Challenge.
28th November to 1st December 2013
4 stages race - team of 2 - in Mauritius.

Here we go again for the fifth edition of this amazing race in the wild part of Mauritius. New tracks and base camp are on this year program.

Like the 4 former editions, you will be able to ride the most preserved and wild places of Mauritius, as we have had the access to private lands usually inaccessible. We hope to see you all to make this edition a success!

The Southern Tropical Challenge:
Born in 2009 the idea was to create the first mountain bike stage race by team of 2 in Mauritius. The two former editions were a great success, and we are coming again this year with the firm intention to propose an even better race! We have the pleasure to invite you all for this 4 days ride, organized as follow:

Prologue 6.5km
Stage 1 : 65km
Stage 2 : 85km
Stage 3 : 45km

Ride in Teams of Two
All riders must enter as a two-rider team. Teams register in one of four different categories that include Men, Ladies, Mixed and Masters (both riders must be 40 years or older on race day). The minimum age of participation is 15 on race day. The riders in a team must remain together at all times during the race and are expected to reach the finish line by 17h00 daily. At each stage, the winners of the day receive prizes and the leaders in the overall classification are awarded their leader jerseys. All riders and race crew sleep in the tented race villages.

The south of the Island
It is the best place for mountain biking, it’s wild, big and has a full choice of slopes! November is one of the best moments of the year to do it also, weather is nice (not so warm), sugar canes are small and it’s not the hunting season.
